I am a ceramic maker and designer, working from my garden studio in Lincoln. I produce contemporary handmade ceramics such as tiles, candleholders, coasters, jewellery and buttons, combining my own design ideas with traditional techniques. All my ceramics are made in the studio entirely by hand.

I work in 'Southern Ice' Porcelain and Stoneware. I use a combination of different techniques including monoprinting, drawing and impressing objects into clay. The relief image in each of my tiles is created by impressing clay into handmade plaster moulds. The moulds are made using a variety of plants, fruits and vegetables, such as apples, pears, chillies, cabbages, asparagus, beans, peas and leaves. The soft fruit and vegetables are frozen to make them hard enough to produce a mould. I use a wide range of glazes, which are developed from my own recipes and experiments with glaze materials. They are mixed by hand using raw materials. Some pieces have two or three glazes applied and may be fired more than once in order to achieve a particular effect.
My ceramics are fired in an electric kiln up to 1260Âșc.
